Digicel Jamaica Inflates Air Time Sales Potential with VeriFone's POS Technology.

Digicel Jamaica is the largest cellular telephone service provider in Jamaica. MC Systems Ltd., a VeriFone partner based in Kingston, deployed a POS solution for Degicel that uses Omni 3750 terminals to enable merchants to sell Digicel cellular telephone without issuing paper cards.

With the new system, merchants no longer carry phone cards. Rather, PINs issued by Digicel are stored on MCS' back-room server and accessed at the point of sale via a dial-up, public switch connection between that server and the Omni 3750. More than 2,000 merchants have deployed it since it was introduced in January of 2001.

Groupo Elecktra Simplifies Customer Payments with VeriFone RF Solution.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Groupo Elektra operates 1,000 appliance stores throughout Mexico. A majority of its customers pay for purchases on a weekly installment plan, with payments spread out over an entire year.

Groupo Elektra deployed a solution called Mobile Teller, which includes VeriFone Omni 3600 portable wireless terminals. Roving employees equipped with Mobile Teller handle all installment remittances so customers don't have to wait in line to make their payment. Completing installment payments with the wireless terminals takes just 20 to 25 seconds.

Unefon Calls on VeriFone for Mexico’s First Internet-enabled Pre-paid Phone Card Solution

Based in Mexico, Unefon provides a variety of mobile telecommunications services and focuses primarily on themass-market segment.

To eliminate paper phone cards entirely, Unefon deployed VeriFone Omni 3750 and Omni 3600 Internet-enabled POS terminals running a pre-paid phone services application developed by IDEA Co., an Internet solutions provider (ISP) with offices in Mexico, France and Columbia.

Today, 1,000 Mexican merchants that distribute Unefon telephone services use the solution. These retailers need not purchase and track traditional PIN cards issued by Unefon. Instead, retailers can access the Internet from the secure browser running on their VeriFone POS terminals to obtain PINs directly from Unefon's Web server.

VeriFone Solution is Winning Ticket to Uruguayan Lottery's Success.

About one million Uruguayan consumers play lottery games daily. Banca de Quinielas de Montevideo and its agents that operate the lottery, working with small stores, kiosks and other establishments that sell tickets to the Uruguayan public.

Using the Omni 3750 terminals, these agents sell lottery tickets and automatically transmit bets from dealers' stores to the bank's data processing center. The VeriFone-based POS solution has enabled Banca de Quinielas de Monteviedo to reduce lottery operation costs by 80% and bolstered lottery-related sales and customer satisfaction levels by allowing dealers and agents to sell tickets up until a few minutes before each draw.
