Interlink Electronics and Lipman Partner to Offer E-Signature-ENABLED RETAIL TRANSACTION SYSTEM

ePad POS Signature Pad First to Support Complete Line of NURITÒ Terminals for Use with NURITÒ Capture, Lipman’s Signature Capture, Storage and Retrieval Solution

CAMARILLO, CA and SYOSSET, NY (April 23, 2002)-- Interlink Electronics, Inc. (NASDAQ: LINK), the world’s leading developer of intuitive interface technologies and solutions for business and home applications, and Lipman, a global leader in wired and wireless point-of-sale (POS) terminal solutions, today announced a partnership to integrate Interlink’s ePad POS electronic signature pad into Lipman’s NURIT Capture retail transaction terminals.  NURIT Capture terminal systems, which will use ePad’s e-signatures to capture electronic retail transactions, are licensed as part of Lipman’s recently announced NURIT CAPTURE solution.  As a part of this agreement, the two companies will continue to develop value-added products for the point-of-sale market.

“Until now, only the larger retail chain stores could afford to deploy e-signature-based electronic transaction systems, said Rod Vesling, vice president of sales and marketing, electronic transactions, Interlink Electronics, Inc. “With the integration of ePad into NURIT Capture terminals, we estimate that over 10 million small to medium POS retail merchants in the U.S. are now able to take advantage of e-signature-enabled transaction processing.  In addition, Lipman’s installed base and future customers for PC and Internet based products, electronic cash registers (ECRs), and self-service kiosks can take advantage of the ePad technology.”

“ePad is the perfect addition to our low cost  NURIT Capture solution, said Bulent Ozayaz , director of business development, Lipman USA.  “ As part of our web enabled retrieval solution that includes check imaging and signature capture, our upcoming NURIT terminal software release has been built to support ePad, enabling merchants of all sizes to take advantage of a low cost, end-to-end capture solution.

How The System Works

A customer simply swipes the payment card and signs on Interlink's ePad-POS signature pad.  The authorized transaction along with the authorization e-signature is then stored locally and later uploaded to a NURIT Capture server appliance for retrieval over the Internet.  This process can be in integral part of a merchant’s defense against charge-backs, enabling the quick location and retrieval of a disputed transaction, which can then be sent to the appropriate party for dispute resolution.

Interlink Electronics’ ePad POS e-signature pad, the newest member of the ePad family of electronic signature products, captures handwritten signatures signed on paper with a pen and converts them to secure e-signatures for use in electronic retail transactions.  ePad POS is available with USB, serial and custom interfaces, and is compatible with all of today’s leading point-of-sale terminals.
